About Me

Eat well. Be nice.

An animal advocate, a vegetarian/aspiring vegan, an explorer.

Make it count. Whatever it is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Makin' friends. Makin' memories. Always hoping to make some food.

A little so far, all of it terrific.

Yoga, food, tunes, dogs.

Changing the world. Seeing the world. Generally being mind-blown about the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

This section would require painstaking weekly updates, but these will always be golden:

movie: Big Fish
music: Black Keys
book: Everything Is Illuminated

...and approximately 398714691485498 others in between per category.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day produces an amazing thing done or seen.

More specifically?

Breaking into a waterfall at night on Jeju Island, jumping off Batoka Gorge into Victoria Falls, kayaking Halong Bay, cliff jumping in Koh Tao, and sneaking off the trail at Machu Picchu to completely lose my breath at the awesomery of the Andes.

Teach, Learn, Share

"When Dad was tucking me in that night and we were talking about the book, I asked if he could think of a solution to that problem.

'Which problem?'

'The problem of how relatively insignificant we are.'

He said 'Well, what would happen if a plane dropped you in the middle of the Sahara Desert and you picked up a single grain of sand with tweezers and moved it one millimeter?...Right then, when you moved that single grain of sand. What would that mean?'

'I guess I would have moved a grain of sand.'

'Which would mean you changed the Sahara.'

'SO? The Sahara is a vast desert. And it has existed for millions of years. And you changed it! I'm not talking about painting the Mona Lisa or curing cancer. I'm just talking about moving that one grain or sand one millimeter. If you hadn't done it, human history would have been one way...but you did do it, so...'

'I changed the course of human history! I've changed the universe!"
