About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

It's been more then ten years since I spent a year in Canada I got addicted to traveling. I met so many interesting people, saw beautiful things, discovered so many different ways of living that I always want to see more. This has shaped me greatly.

I also have episodes of a "Regular life" with work and routine. I think it's good to have that but also be able to leave your every day life from time to time. I've changed through time, traveling and experiences. I try to be and stay open-minded to different ways of living, try to grow/learn/lead the most meaningful or fulfilling life that's meant for me.

I've been on couchsurfing since 2012 I think, and owe it many of my most memorable experiences. .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently Hope to connect with people through meeting or surfing.

As a guest, I always try to give something back too, cook or be nice company or share whatever there is to share.

Also Meeting up, offering time to spend and advice.

Until this day I've had many a great and memorable surfing experience and have stayed in touch with some of my hosts.

I haven't verified my profile deliberately because I don't like the idea of CS becoming a commercial platform. It used to work beautifully before and I think it should stay that way. It was always about trust - I don't see why credit card information is needed to make CS participants more trustworthy. I hope they will be trustworthy without it for the sake of the original idea of Couchsurfing.

Update: Well. payment is mandatory now. I still don't like this at all but we'll see where this will go and how it will change the experience. Couchsurfing is still one of the best concepts of exchange and I am still eager to participate and reciprocate the wonderful experiences I made thanks to CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been on CS since 2012 or so.
I've surfed in several countries and have had so many good experiences. Long talks, demanding hikes, touching songs, fun parties with people I just met a few hours ago, laughter to tears, sitting still in awe seing the beauty of nature - just a few examples of my couchsurfing experiences. I've even found friends that I'm still in touch with over years and many miles - I think that is the greatest thing to achieve with this project.

Music, Movies, and Books

music: movie scores, classical music, Apocalyptica, Placebo, Amarok (a totally underestimated band from Poland), post rock, alternative, gothic, noise music, random songs from all genres which touch me.

books: Haruki Murakami. Dan Simmons. Michael Ende - neverending story, Momo. Terry Pratchett. Heinrich Boell. Kafkas short stories. I'd love to read more but seem to never find the time :/

movies: amongst my favourites are God's own country, Pan's labyrinth, and Arrival - so much more than a science fiction movie. It's philosophical, it teaches about being human and understanding between different cultures. And it's so aesthetic. music by Johann Johannson. It really is more than just a science fiction movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rope swinging on a bridge somewhere in B.C., Canada. The three most amazing seconds of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a host I can tell you about local cultural history and nature (architecture, plants, geography, animals) and vice versa I am interested to learn about these things as a guest.
And if you are interested in Art - I'd go with you to art galleries and show you art, or rather: how to see paintings. modern art isn't just something that "a little child could have done" - or have you ever tried to draw the spirit of a bull (Picasso did). i failed so far^^ ... Rembrandt is the master of light and shadow. Edward hopper paints modern melancholy. the Dutch still lifes are better than photographies. and so on...

Also I love to be active, I would suggest going to the climbing gym or outside in any way if that's your thing.

Since I have an income I've become quite a foodie. I can and will recommend restaurants and cafés in Leipzig, especially for Asian and Italian cuisine and the best coffee in town.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always happy to cook with hosts or guests and teach and learn new recipes. My favourite recipe to teach is German pancakes.
Travel stories, gardening tips, recommendations for the next trip.
Recommendations for alternative music and movies (although I'm usually not up to date)
