Hi there! My name is Katherine, or Kat for short. I am currently on a gap year after graduating with my Bachelors in Southern California, and am trying to see as much of the world as I can before I return home in May. I love to cook and bake, sing, learn about other cultures, do crafts, hike-- most importantly, I love to meet new people! Everyone has such a unique story and perspective to share, so I love that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not only is couch surfing a great way to meet new people, but it is also extremely practical since a recent graduate from a four year University tends to be a bit tight with her budget. :) Beyond the monetary advantages, however, it is a great way to experience the local culture with others too; this is something that staying at a hotel will not provide for anyone!

Music, Movies, and Books

This is so tricky. Ummm my favorite music changes all the time. I listen to a little bit of everything. At the moment, due to a number of Chinese dramas I've been watching, I've been listening to a lot of Chinese bamboo flute and music from the shows. My favorite movie series of all time is Lord of the Rings, and my favorite book as of late is called Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers (a historical fiction novel). I read and watch a bit of everything too, however. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, by the end March of this year, I'll have visited 12 countries by myself. By the end of May, I hope that number will increase to 15-20.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach various makeup tricks and styles (I have spent way too much time learning about this), natural beauty and health tips and tricks, how to cook and bake traditional American treats (and even some Brazilian inspired ones thanks to my Mom), how to crochet (if you have a hook- I do not at the moment). Also, I'd love to have a karaoke party with you, watch movies, or just chat about life and growing up in the middle of the jungle.
I love learning in general, so any skill you'd like to share I'd be so grateful to take part!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I feel like this is a very similar question to the above. I'm fairly energetic and vivacious, and I have a passion for life that tends to come out, especially around food (do you see a pattern yet?). I hope I can share some of the things above, and also just be someone that can maybe bring a little bit of fun into your life. ;)
