About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying the beauty and miracles of life.

ABOUT ME

Positive. Social. Love to laugh. Occasionally clumsy (I'm surviving, no worries). Curious. Caring. Loving life.

I’ve been lucky enough to have spent the last 18 months travelling - after an English teaching volunteer program in Cambodia I’ve moved to New Zealand and work-travelled my way all over the country.
After finishing uni and feeling lost as in how to move on, I had initially set off travelling hoping that it will help to become clear about which direction to take. Yet quite the opposite happened: I’ve come to understand how little I actually know - about the world, people and myself. And how much more there is to explore.

So after a quick break back home in Germany I’m heading out for the next adventure, taking my bicycle up to Scandinavia and hoping to get in touch with Nordic culture and nature.

I like to be outdoors and active, but I also don't mind spending hours chatting over a good cup of coffee. I have a positive outlook on things and my favorite state of facial expression is a wide smile. I'm social and enjoy to meet new people (obviously), to hang out and talk, play board games or to enjoy a never ending breakfast on Sunday mornings. It's about the simple things in life.

I'm eager to learn. About just anything. I try to broaden my horizon whenever possible, enjoying the process of learning and improving, of getting new insights and ideas. And there seems to be no better way to do that than heading out and explore the world, right?!

Going vegan about 2 years ago has been the beginning of a journey towards a whole new level of consciousness - green, sustainable, low-waste, meditation - you name it. Yup, the whole hippie-save-the-planet-thing (no, never would I have seen this coming - yet here I am!) If you are not into this, fine, I’m slowly getting used to being the only weirdo in the crowd. All I’m asking is for you to respect my choices :)

Looking forward to have our paths cross and learn from you and your culture!

PHILOSOPHY

You are never fully dressed without a smile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Life is all about the people. And travelling is just an amazing way to meet them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed couches in Italy with a friend. Such a good experience! Going out with locals is the best way to explore a city. And bonus - you'll never miss out the best spots to eat ;)

Then another 2 couches in New Zealand. I'm telling you, people there are just WAY too nice. Seriously.

A couple of HelpX work/volunteer stays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being invited to stay with a local family in rural Cambodia.

Watching the sunrise over the dunes in the Sahara desert.

Getting a SCUBA diving license.

Living and working in Milford Sound, getting to hike and explore the hidden paths of freakin' gorgeous Fiordland National Park. Where waterfalls are your showers and mountain parrots your pets.

(I know, that's more than one. But life is just too amazing to pick one only!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to craft dreamcatchers and origami stars, how to make the best banana bread and how to keep borrowed ebooks longer on your ebook reader than they are supposed to be ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Long and deep conversations, smiles and laughter and eternal gratitude for sharing your home with me.

I can teach you Macarena. Or how to knit. Or how to kill your pot plant. Maybe some German, if I'm in the mood. Or I can make you laugh by trying to do the rolling Rrrrr sound in Spanish words.
Or maybe we'll just go out and explore your city, cook some good veggie food and share a bottle of wine :)
