About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find myself in obscure places in the Americas and see what goes on there
ABOUT ME
I grew up in East Germany under the socialist regime but my friends and I sought out English music. At 29 years old I left my home town to spend a year in England. That was in 1998 and I have lived there ever since. Although I have a great life in England it was time for me to experience something new again so I have taken a year's break from my job to travel in the Americas with my partner.
PHILOSOPHY
To live and to love life with passion and energy. And when everyday life starts to become a little stale then to branch out and do something new.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My partner and I have been mixing a little independent travel with work on voluntary projects during our trip. We love the opportunity that the voluntary work has given us to get to know people and places in a way that conventional tourism just doesn't offer. We have just discovered couch surfing whilst helping out a couple of members at their home in exchange for food and lodging. It seems to fit very well with our attitude to travelling. We would like to surf some couches during our travels and to return the favour once we get home.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: English indie rock, particularly that from the '90s.
Books: Those with a lot of soul like The Alchemist and The Life of Pi.
Movies: Chic Flicks are my fave. Sorry!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently learned to scuba dive in order to help out with a marine conservation project in Belize. Getting to swim with in the open ocean with a 3m manatee was probably the top of many highlights.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm currently learning Spanish and teaching our hosts' niece how to make friendship bracelets, a skill that I learnt off a marine biologist earlier in my travels.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Belize, Bulgaria, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Tanzania
Countries I’ve Lived In
