About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To unwind and rediscover the world after finishing my PhD

ABOUT ME

I take pleasure in postcards, hats, hands, yoghurt, rhythm, animals, moving at high speed, sleeping on fresh sheets, hearing water pounce on my nanna shower cap, hot beverages and people who are interesting enough to distract me from life's moments of ennui and chaos.

Phrases/words often (ie more than once) used by others to describe me: touch junkie, Poet, escape artist, striking, hurricane, tall, Romantic, pessimist, intellectual, original.

These may/may not be illusory.

PHILOSOPHY

The only cure is action.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I generally am travelling rather than hosting, but am happy to meet up with people if they are passing through wherever I'm put up--in Australia or, these days, India.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I grew up in a household of travellers and hosts of travellers, so it was always natural to have overseas guests (even before Couchsurfing existed). In Bangladesh, the same deal applied to anyone passing through who was even vaguely known to me or my flatmates--great times are always had when travellers are able to trust one another.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to name--but I have a preference for English and US literature from the 1920s and 30s, for French films, and any music that is beautiful and shows a sense of humour.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dancing in the lantern-lit streets of Kolkata during Durga Puja.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a writer who has been known to write/recite poetry or creative pieces on demand for friends, especially for special occasions.
