I am Katie, I'm 23 years old and from a town called Bolton, near to Manchester, in the North of England.

I enjoy a fab cup of tea and a biscuit, but I'm more than willing to sacrifice these home comforts in order to travel the world for something more magical.

I'm excited to see as much of this big wild world as possible and meet lots of new people along the way.

I want to embrace all that life has to offer in the beautiful places I visit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to experience places without having a touristy outlook on the place. I think a great way to do that is to meet locals and to see and experience a place through their eyes and knowledge. I would also love to host and show people all the delights and gems Manchester has to offer, that you might not get from a travel guide.

Music, Movies, and Books

Having graduated with a degree in English Literature, I'm into a lot of poetry, reading it, listening to spoken word and also writing my own stuff too. I'm always on the look out for something inspiring to read, suggestions are always welcomeee.

Movie-wise, I'm partial to a romantic comedy every now and again.

I once fed a giraffe in Kenya.

Teach, Learn, Share

Music's a big part of everything I do. I really enjoy indie, alternative stuff. Anything from Arctic Monkeys to Catfish and the Bottlemen, or Laura Marling to Bombay Bicycle Club. I also play guitar and sing a little too. I up for jamming sessions and teaching a few chords too.

I have a deep love for learning about cultures and open to new ways at looking at life. I'm curious to learn more about how people live around the world. I've spent time teaching in the slums of Africa and with the upper class in California, and have learnt just as much from both places.

During my time in Northern California, I spent time living in a flat-hierachy consensus based community learning a lot of really cool philosophies, ways of putting intentionality behind what I'm saying, exploring my core needs and wants and meeting amazing people from all around the world.
