About Me

I live my life for both the spirit of outdoor adventure and the heart of caring for others. Yo aprecio la conexión con otras personas y también el tiempo por mi cuenta para la reflexión. Mi corazón está en las montañas y los ríos, que a mí siempre viví en lugares con tanta belleza.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"Offical" Couchsurfing is new to me, but I´ve always choosen the places I visit in the USA based on who I know with couch I can crash on. And since I have always lived in an awesome place I have extended the offer to many of my friends and acquaintances. Now I am traveling in South America for 7 months and would like to experience what the locals have to offer, as I have experienced in the US and offered in my home city for many years.
I love to travel for the opportunity to experience cultures other than my own, to connect with the people, and to see, taste, feel, hear and smell all that is offered!

Interests

Clearly traveling is an interest, both home and abroad. My primary other interests are outdoor adventure and just experiencing nature. I´ve always lived in the mountains, which gives me access to my favorite things - snow skiing, trekking, and whitewater rafting or canoeing. I am a small town girl who loves to explore cities by drifting through coffee shops and bars and walking through the neighborhoods where real people live.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read, but in my non-traveling life have a hard time finding the time. I appreciate a good novel and often ones reflecting the different cultures of histories of the regions I have lived. Favorites include ¨The Brothers K¨,and ¨River Why¨ both by David James Duncan, ¨The Monkey Wrench Gang" by Edwared Abby, "Fools Crow¨ by James Welch, and ¨The Absolutely True Diaries of a Part-Time Indian¨by Alexie Sherman, the latter two are Native American authors.
As for music, I am a lover of almost all types, depending on my mood. Where I live both Blue Grass and Funk are the popular local bands so those are my current live music favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

October 2014 I rafted the Rio Marañón in northern Peru for 3 weeks! The experience of rafting a white-water river in a remote part of a foreign country with the opportunity to stop in villages where many of the people don´t see any outsiders, let alone 17 gringos is AMAZING!

Teach, Learn, Share

Share; my laughter-I love to laugh!!!
As a native English speaker I am very skilled in helping other learn to speak better English.
For those visiting Northwest Montana, I am happy to share my wealth of knowledge of the area and Glacier National Park, where I have been a hiking guide for the last 14 summers.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I know my way around the kitchen and would be happy to prepare or help prepare meals for my hosts. I don´t know the local cuisines, but would be more than happy to learn. I also can share my smile and laughter!
I am organized in keeping my things out of the way and a clean space around me.
