My name is Katie Calvin, I'm 19 years old and and live in the United States. I come from a large military family and have traveled all my life. I was born in Illinois, and lived in England and Washington state. I moved to Florida when I was 12, and although Florida has brought me a lot of beauty and amazing experiences, I call Washington my home. Something about the flat lands of Florida doesn't quite catch my attention the way the mountains and forests do of the Pacific Northwest. I finished most of my associates degree while I was in high school and now I'm taking the next year to travel before going back for my bachelors. The past year has shown me a passion for travel, I've met some amazing people and have had some even more amazing experiences. I believe that I've learned so much more from my travel experiences than I ever could have by just going straight into university.
I was an assistant General Manager for about a year at Chipotle Mexican grill and now I serve/bartend at TGIF.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing because I think it's a really cool way to meet and build relationships with other travelers. I crave human connection, I love to learn about other nationalities and cultures.

Interests

I spend a lot of my time painting and drawing, but I'm no amazing artist, I'd eventually like to sell some of my stuff on Etsy one day so that's what I'm working towards. I also spend a lot of time at the yoga studio and am in hopes of starting yoga teacher training in the next coming year. I am a big animal activist and love spending time around animals. I have two dogs and a cat that I take care of. I like to spend most of my time outdoors, hiking, camping etc. When I'm not painting or at work I'm usually out front in my hammock enjoying Florida weather.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all types of music, but mostly chill house music. Ellie Goulding is a favorite artist as well as Zella day. I read anything that catches my attention, but the Harry Potter books and movies are my favorite.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can bake or cook for you happily :) I am known to be a much better baker than a cook because my mom is a wedding/ events cake maker. but I'm not too shabby with everything else. I enjoy sharing experiences with others, talking, sharing culture, going out or anything we can do to have some fun!
