About Me
My partner and I live on a catamaran (sailboat) with our dog. It's our version of 'tiny home living' in the beautiful Puget Sound. Staying in such a small, unusual space can be tricky for people who aren't used to it. The need to tuck into one spot is very real, and we'll be moving around each other often. An optimal guest would have minimal luggage, and feel comfortable with close quarters and limited personal space. ;) As we've hosted Couch-Surfers, we've discovered this understanding to be important for a comfortable experience for everyone! Please feel free to ask questions so we can decide if it's a good fit. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My partner, Aaron, has hosted in past years and always spoken highly of couchsurfing experiences. As we have started moving around a bit, I decided I'd better get my own profile started! We traveled to Juneau, AK in 2015, and our fantastic hostess has since become a good friend. We've now been able to host her in return in our new city, Seattle, which was pretty awesome!
I want to pass along the gift of a safe, free space while traveling in a new area. I love the idea of people opening their homes and creating experiences with new people. I think it's what the world needs more of, particularly right now. I am all about people connecting, and also think it's very cool to bypass the capitalistic system in the process!
Interests
I've always connected deeply with nature, and a mountain, tree, flower, or body of water can lift my spirits like nothing else. Music and dancing make me happy, and while I am in no way a musician or dancer, I appreciate the art of those who are and love the joy it brings me as I engage in either. Enjoying incredible food and spirits (beer, wine, liquor) fill a large portion of my life. I love discovering new flavor combinations and soaking up the ones that are like old friends. I'm most definitely a food snob, for which I blame my personal chef, cooking teacher, and life partner, Aaron. He taught me to cook and how easy it is to make truly great food by simply balancing flavors. Food is a very central part of our life, and we enjoy how much we enjoy it. I am into health, but in a way that focuses on inner happiness and soul-satisfaction as a basis. In my mind, when hearts, minds, and souls are healthy, the body follows. I enjoy "coaching," and am all about the beautiful journey life is.

Movies: August Rush, West Side Story, The Fifth Element, The Last of the Mohicans, Remember the Titans, Little Women (1933), Roman Holiday, An Affair to Remember
Books: The Dark Tower Series (Steven King), Charlotte's Web (E. B. White), Little Women (Louisa May Alcott), A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens), The Moon Sisters (Therese Walsh)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I bought-out my employer's café with my now-partner Aaron, and thus had my own business at the age of 25. We turned a business that was barely sustaining itself around and raised our sales nearly 200% in the first year. Within the first year we saved enough money to give a lump sum to the original owners and wipe out the need for owner-financing. Our little restaurant was a bright spot in our community where at least 75% of our customers we knew by sight, name, and/or order, and where many of our regulars not only became our friends, but friends with each other.
What I Can Share with Hosts
