COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I traveled with my partner Steve to Ireland, Scotland and England a few years ago, we stayed with really marvelous, generous folks!

Interests

I love to explore on foot or on bicycle. I enjoy the outdoors, music, dance; I'm recently getting more and more interested in the local foods movement, gardening, and composting.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically, my tastes are eclectic; favorites recently are old-time (traditional) and world music. As I write this I'm listening to The Be Good Tanyas. Other recent picks are Devon Sproule, Nightingale, Rodriguez, Bob Marley, Michael Franti.

Favorite movies: American Beauty, The King's Speech, The Story of the Weeping Camel, The Red Tent, Trumbo, Rabbit Proof Fence, Cinema Paradiso, Monsieur Ibrahim, Shine, My Left Foot

Favorite books: I'm a book lover, so it's hard to pick out favorites. I love reading biographies, especially of people who have taken unusual risks or who have changed our world for the better. One important book I read recently was "Dark Money" by Jane Mayer. (I highly recommend it.) A couple of my recent favorite authors are Tracy Kidder and Rosemary Mahoney.

I'd love to learn more about growing things, composting toilets, developing solar energy options.
