Hi, I'm Katie! I'm a 20 year old from Washington state. I recently returned from 7 months of living, working and traveling in Chile and Peru. I just got back into school this autumn, studying environmental science. I love nature, animals and poetry, among many other things.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had wonderful experiences couchsurfing during my travels, and hope to do more on future trips. For the time being I'm pretty stationary, and would love to be able to host visitors to the beautiful city of Seattle. Even if I can't host, I'd be more than willing to meet up with newcomers looking to enjoy the city!

I started couchsurfing in Chile. Everyone was so unbelievably kind to me that I fell in love with it!

My interests include Literature, wildlife, and, of course, travel. I adore poetry, the ocean, all kinds of animals, and I care about environmentalism and endangered species conservation.

Some of my favorite poets include Walt Whitman, Lewis Carroll, Pablo Neruda, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and recently, Mary Oliver. I also love children's books: Winnie the Pooh, The Giving Tree, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and The Velveteen Rabbit are all great.
My favorite movies are comedies, but I'll also watch kids movies, nature documentaries, and the occasional action movie too.

Music is classic rock. The Beatles, The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull and Simon &Garfunkel, among zillions of others.

I love wildlife, and I love the water. Some of my favourite moments from traveling involve both.
-In Laos, I took a nighttime river tour through a national protected area of jungle to spot wildlife. I saw and heard barking deer and other fascinating wildlife native to Laos.
