ABOUT ME

whilst describing oneself in text, finding the right combination of sincerity and wackiness is damn near impossible!
having said that....
i like to have deep, intense conversations with complete strangers. i think getting to know people from the inside out is much more interesting than starting with the surface stuff like many people do.
i am very laid back and try to live my day to day life as flexibly as possible. i believe that everything we do is by choice, even if it seems like we don't have one. i am choosing from many options during every little move i make during a given day.
as much as i like to be in control of some aspects of my own life though, i also enjoy being carried away by the world and it's events.
there are so many things to do and see! from sitting for hours with nothing to do but watch the wind blow, to mardi gras, to working with tigers in tibet, traveling every place i can think of, and using my degrees to educate and treat animals in impoverished animals as well as working in the field to track, treat, and support wild endangered species...i want to experience it all!
im also a search and rescue scuba diver, a legit cowgirl, and a dog/cat/horse trainer.
and oh yeah, sometimes i get way too shitty and dance my dnb ass off.

PHILOSOPHY

i live my life by my own impulses, to make myself happy. however, in doing so i spend a lot of time doing things for other beings. i believe you live this life to live it as yourself, and pretending to be something you're not is pointless. i am a political pessimist and a humanitarian realist.
if you understand or empathize with any of that then we might get along just dandy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

my main cs experience started over a decade ago when i surfed around europe. but since then i have hosted on a frequent basis and have made some awesome friends!

i am somewhat of a bibliophile, and beginning to list literary interests would take a long, long time. my favorite author is terry pratchett.
i dont watch tv but love to pirate british sitcoms.
as for music: idm, riot marching bands , ska, some hip hop, dubstep, classical, dnb, punk, showtunes and random rock. i do not usually listen to country, rap, metal, pop, trance, emo or indie.....but am always open to new sounds! and whatever music is happening around the campfire is usually awesome.

i went to new orleans after hurricane katrina hit for a month to do animal rescue. i spent every day crawling around in flood shmo after dogs and getting up at five am to set cat traps after sleeping all night in a parking lot. the city was empty, there was no running water or electricity, it was hot and damp and the whole place smelled like rotten chicken. all and all an amazing experience.

i can share my experiences and hopefully teach the value of taking risks, being impulsive, and just going with the options that present themselves to you.
i can spin poi. i have been spinning for years and would at least be fun to spin with if that's something a surfer is interested in. i have also been spinning fire for years and could give some good tips on how not to light yourself on fire...

a master bedroom plus a giant couch. food. a tranquil place to hike, relax, walk the dog, etc. the river that borders our property and floating down it. my partners unstoppable love of sports, skill at fishing, glass blowing and any other art media, and of course his endless scooter modifications.
there's a lot more but you get the idea; a scientist and an artist living on a little farm where we can be wild or just sit in the sun all day.
