Hi there, I am Katleen.

I grew up in a small town in Belgium. When I was 17, I participated in an exchange program and ended up in Shanghai, this experience has changed my life forever. I fell in love with the Chinese language and culture, and I majored in Chinese studies at university. Ever since, all I wanted is to roam around the world, experience different cultures and meet new people. Asia has consistently drawn me back.

2024 marks the beginning of an exciting new adventure. I have made the bold decision to quit my job and leave my life in Belgium behind in pursuit of finding genuine happiness. I will be traveling to East Asia (China, Taiwan and South Korea) to explore new places and to live there for a while among the local people. I hope this adventure will bring me new energy and will help me to reconnect with a part of myself that I have lost for a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While traveling I always like to immerse myself as much in the local culture as I can. What better way to do this than to stay with local people.

I also would like to have the opportunity to practice Chinese with the local people in China and Taiwan.
