Words to describe me: sarcastic, honest, witty, intelligent, silly, adventurous, musical, independent, caring, empathetic, strong, and forthcoming. I am a people person, and have enjoyed a career centered around working with at-risk persons (worked in a Children’s hospital in Chicago, worked with elderly veterans in assisted living, spent many years working with children with special needs). While I adore meeting new people and shared experiences, I also relish in alone time and find I am equally introverted and extroverted.

I am in a committed relationship with my boyfriend who is currently deployed in Afghanistan as a Captain in the US Army - I was advised to mention this as I’ve heard this app can be used more for a hook-up scenario, which does not interest me. I've planned out minimal portions of my trip so as to have flexibility in my travels and the ability to be spontaneous! I have never traveled solo, so this trip is a big leap of faith for me, though I am sure I'll meet many kind souls along the trails to make me feel less alone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking to stay with locals along my solo travel through Europe. I believe in the goodness of humans and want to experience this and share my own goodness with the people I meet across my journey. I would rather spend time with a local than post up in a hotel. I anticipate utilizing a combination of couch surfing, Airbnb, and hostels during my travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

LED ZEPPELIN. I grew up listening to music with my dad, so the oldies (60s, 70s music) hold a special place in my heart. That said, I’ll listen to just about anything (not particularly fond of Country Western, sorry). Classical music is also a huge passion of mine as a pianist - Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 3 in C Minor is a fave and I hope to someday take the time to sit down and learn it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have a piano, guitar, or ukulele I'd be happy to play you a tune or two! I'm no good at cooking, but I am great at doing the dishes (and eating)! I can assure any host that I am polite, clean, respectful, and will undoubtedly follow the house rules of any establishment.
