ABOUT ME

I'm an artist and I also teach art part-time at a University on a fine art BA and MFA programme. I should probably describe myself as quite quiet but not always.I'm very independent and don't mind solitary adventures although I love to meet people along the way if I am travelling alone. I work pretty hard and am in the studio most days and quite late into the evening. I'm an active person and run or do something like that (swim, bike, dance) every day. I read a lot and the literature I chose to read becomes very connected to the work I'm making in the studio.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

see places from the inside out and help others do the same. I've met some great people through couchsurfing and people I wouldn't ordinarily get the opportunity to meet I feel. My life is pretty much all about art and art education so I find having the chance to meet people involved in different things and with different interests very stimulating and necessary.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into folk and country/rock. But I listen to a lot of classical music. I learnt the cello from quite a young age and still play when I can find the time.
I read a lot and if I'm stuck for a book I know I will always love Henry James.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mountain-biking over snow and ice in the northumberland hills. Watching desert elephants stroll pass my tree house in Namibia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk for ages about art if anyone wants to listen! But also a reasonable amount about literature and theatre. I'm definately an arts person and have a resolution to spend more time engaing in the sciences but my friends, colleagues, family all do arts things so it can be difficult remembering this. That's where CS comes in!!....
