About Me

Self-taught artist

For starters, I'm someone who is in a never-ending conflict between being rational and spiritual. There are times when there's that voice that tells you to question everything and critically analyze things with reason and there are times when there's another voice that says "Let go and have some faith! You're not meant to understand everything." Maybe we all experience this conflict in one way or another but situations have molded my life to experience this "literally".

I'm an undergraduate student whose course load involves reading great works from philosophy and physical sciences but at the same time, I'm a practicing Buddhist who often spends time meditating and pondering about concepts like Samsara and Moksha.

If there's one thing that made sure my life went smooth despite this conflict, it's Art. Art taught me that it is okay to take a step back sometimes and admire things for their aesthetic beauty rather than subjecting them to reason.

Whenever I'm surrounded by questions that I can't reason with like "why are we here?", "What are we doing?", "What happens after life ends?", I crave a sense of belonging, a feeling that we are a part of something greater than the self, and that is exactly what I like to depict in my artworks. I believe art is as important as something like language. Just how language is a medium to communicate thoughts and experiences, I believe art is a medium to communicate feelings and emotions. So, I use Art to communicate these feelings not only to a viewer but also to myself, to satisfy myself when subjected to questions that logic and reason fail to answer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I heard about Couchsurfing, in addition to a free place to crash, what I've seen is an opportunity to meet someone who has lived a life entirely different from mine, someone with a different belief system. Now, I travel with a hope that a certain someone with a certain belief system would alter my perspective and in turn give my works a tremendous imaginative boost.
