About Me
Hey guys, I'm new to couchsurfing!
My name is Kavya, and I'm a third-year studying Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Georgia. In between research on Bayesian designs and studying for the GRE, I dance and have fun! (Disclaimer: I'm not saying that work isn't fun ~ I love what I'm learning lol)
I have been trained in Bollywood, ballet, classical Indian dance, and even a little bit of Chinese folk dance. I have also been lucky enough to have had a semester to learn Mojah, which is an art form influenced by modern and West African movements.
Spanish is what I learned in school, and I definitely have to refresh what I have learned. But about two years ago, I was at an intermediate speaking level. Hindi and Korean I have casually been learning while watching movies and listening to music. Oh! and I picked up a couple of words and phrases in Mandarin from my Chinese dance teachers.
Most of my traveling consists of summers in Hyderabad, India where my family is from. But I've also had my fair share of traveling across the United States. I've been to California, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Ohio, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New York. Also, my family spent a few weeks traveling in Europe a couple of years ago.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that Couchsurfing is a wonderful platform that allows users to share culture, language, cuisine, and experiences. Learning happens in the most meaningful and intimate way possible. I get to share my experiences and what I love about my home to anyone willing to listen. Everyone has a story to tell about themselves and about the place that they live, and I am ready to listen! :)

My first year of college, I was on a Bollywood fusion dance team. Here's us competing at nationals last year:
