About Me

Practical idealist.

I climb the corporate ladder like an adult at work to grant me the freedom to climb the monkey bar like a child in the kindergarten.

3 things ignite the fiery passion for life in me: travel, thought-provoking coversations, caffeine

I am eternally curious, I always see the silver lining in the clouds and I believe in taking calculated risks in exchange for exhilarating experiences.

I believe that every person is a unique sum of one's life experiences, and there is always something I can learn.

If you vibe with this, let's grab a cup of coffee (or cocktail) and chat! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling is my passion, but more than the cuisine and sightseeing, my biggest passion is learning about a country's culture - especially through a local.

Memories come and go, but I will always remember the stories told, the smiles and laughter, and the warm embrace of the people I met.

Among the most interesting people I've met: a French volunteer in a monkey sanctuary in the middle of the Bolivian rainforest who hitchhiked from Malaysia to Singapore; an English digital nomad who could discuss Nietzsche, algorithmic trading, and cytokine storms; an American backpacker who danced the whole night with me after savoring delectable skewers in an izakaya.

Being a practical idealist of course, I'd love to invest my expenses in experiencing all that the country has to offer, and sleeping in a sterile room feels like a fancier version of prison. Rather, I'd love to explore the diverse architecture and design of different homes reflecting one's culture.

Ps: this will be my first solo travel experience, and I wanted to make this extra special :)

Interests

I'm constantly expanding my interests. Teach me something about your interest! Share with me how you developed your interest, why you love it, and how you integrate your interests into your life.

I'm a big city girl, my interests are very urban but I also appreciate the quiet tranquility of nature.

My life is an organised chaos - like jigsaw pieces that go together, but form an incoherent image.

A perfect day for me usually involves discovering a new coffee spot, reading a beautiful passage in a book, charting a record in my weightlifting sessions, cooking and laughing with friends, conversing about everything under the moon over drinks while we dance clumsily, in my own country or better, a foreign one! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I doubt I have sufficient life experiences to answer this question. But a recent memory involves lining up 2.5 hours under the rain for a bowl of Ichiran ramen in Shibuya, missing the last train and walking 1 hour back to my accommodation in the dimly lit streets. 10/10 would do it again!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I grew up learning 3 languages, and I picked up a 4th language in high school. I'm happy to practice if any language sparks your interest. I graduated with a bachelor in pharmacy, but I was also involved in social entrepreneurship and public policy. I'm happy to share my knowledge in medicines, startups, business and health policy too! Lastly, I did a semester of culinary arts and I can share what I learned about elevating a dish from edible to delectable.

Learn: Personally, I would love to learn how to brew a great cup of coffee, learn a couple dance moves and ride a scooter. When travelling, I love to learn about the culture - I'm a big foodie so local cuisine is a must. Other than that, the local lifestyle - beliefs, favourite pastime activities, social relationships, politics and economy, and of course must-visit spots!

Share: I share my love for life, a listening ear, and company. I like to think I'm a great conversationalist and no topic is off-limits. I'm also a great companion for social activities - I'm always open to try new things. I would also love to share a piece of my culture with you - I'm definitely curating a special local souvenir for you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

3 things: my vibrant energy, my knowledge and experiences, my company

I'm also independent and have good etiquette and social awareness. I have experiences staying with hosts and made sure I keep noise to a minimum and maintain a clean space at all times. I'm a great travel companion too. I'm adaptable and navigate well under uncertainty. Most of all, I'm fun to be around and I keep the atmosphere light. I'm no photographer but I can help you take your next profile picture too!

I can also cook you a meal from my culture - but it will be spicy 🌶

Lastly, I'm bringing souvenirs that represent my culture for you as a token of appreciation 😊
