Heyho, I'm Kaya,
I grew up in a very multicultural part of Berlin, always traveled a lot, lived one year each in Ireland and in India.
In India I lived and worked in the experimental and international town of Auroville, which can be compared with an EcoVillage.

Since I'm bored quite easyliy I have a lot of things going on always - sometimes my flatemate doesnt sees me for quite a while cause I'm always on the run: In Uni I study environmental science and technology and work as teaching assistant, help to run the plenary of my study course, and help to publish a crazy and critical study-magazin.
I love to dance BalFolk, go bouldering and to spend time with friends and my boyfriend in little càfes and pubs.

If I have some days off you probably won't find me in berlin: I love visiting friends in other places, travel to dance and music festivals or just a day off in Nature....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

...sitting around a breakfirst table with a lot of different people! But let me explain:

In Auroville i lived in a shared community on a Permaculture farm - we were several volunteers and sometimes random travelers would visit and decide to stay in our community for some while... So it was always a surprise who was there for dinner and i got to know a lot of people from all over the world ;)

Since I'm back in Berlin i study Environmental science, and through all the stuff that is going on there is only a small amount of time left for traveling....
So I'm always happy if there are people from other places visiting me :) and in that sence bring a bit of travelling to me :) At the same time i love to plan journeys (even if they are only short) and get around and meet new people...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A friend called and told me in 3 days she would start a trip with some friends into the wilderness of the Czech Republic and aked me if I would like to join. Some days later we were in the middle of a beautiful snowy forest. It was the end of march and we hadn't expected such cold temperatures - we did't even bring a tent, just a tarp. But they were some of the most beautiful days. We hiked from Czechia back to germany. Everything we needed we had with us and sleepted were we wanted: Under big old trees, on the top of rocks, in caves...

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some crazy nice folk dances - Balfolk is a new form of folk dancing which is totally free - free of dresscodes, free of leading roles and you are free to add or improvise whenever you like. There a group dances, pair dances, line dances and a lot more... I already tought BalFolk at some events and I'm keen to get others to learn some easy dances.. :) it's very simple, no worries! - And we could meet again on one of the many european balfolk festivals ;)
