Hello! My name is Kayla and I live in Madison, WI. I'm an elite cyclist competing in the disciplines of road racing and cyclocross. I work as a nanny when not training in the South.

My favorite part of being an elite athlete is traveling to new places and meeting new people. Some of my favorite places to ride or race are Austin, TX; Asheville, NC; Hendersonville, NC; Gainesville, FL; Englewood, FL. I am looking forward to expanding my travel calendar in 2016 and racing in many places around the country. Aside from racing goals, my other goal is to ride in as many states and I can this year. I'd like to make it to 25 different states if possible.

Competitive cycling, traveling, watching movies, blogging, hanging out with friends, drinking coffee, cooking (especially breakfast), meeting new people, reading, spending time with Family, kayaking and hiking or snowshoeing. I also Love listening to music and finding new artists and going to live shows! I guess I should expand on my love of food. I think that is something that goes hand-in-hand with being an elite athlete! I really like to try new foods and learn to cook new things. Along with my love of (healthy) food, I also consider myself to be a family health-conscious individual.

Music: I listen to so many different genres! Some of my favorites include Indie, Hip-hop, alternative, Christian, and Folk! Music plays a big part in my life. I'm almost always listening to music and love to discover new artists. Going to see my favorite bands is also one of my favorite things to do!

Movies: Some of my favorites include Interstellar, Inception, and the Batman series. I absolutely cannot stand horror films!

Books: The Red Market, Pro Cycling on $10 a Day, The Road Less Traveled, PRE.

I won a state championship title in the sport of cyclocross in December of 2014. It was completely unexpected! Winning is a great feeling but when it is completely unexpected it is truly like no other!
