About Me

My name is Kayla! I currently live in Florida, but I spent three and a half years in San Diego, which is where the wanderlust spirit in me was really inspired. I am a flight instructor right now and am teaching at a school called Paragon Flight Training. I love flying, I love traveling, and I love people! Being outside is my favorite, and big mountains and rocks and trees make my heart super happy. I'm a relatively small person, but I love things that make me feel small and put life into perspective. I'm a pretty happy and adventurous person, and I love having deep meaningful conversations with people and learning about them and their experiences. I love to explore the way different people from different cultures think and process the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just discovered couch surfing, and initially I was looking at it as a way to help myself afford to travel. The more I've read from other people's profiles and from talking to people I've met who have used this in their travels, I'm realizing more and more what an amazing opportunity it can be to learn about different cultures on a very personal level. I'm excited to use this not only to fuel my passion for travel, but going into it with an open mind it can be a unique way for me to learn and grow as a person and develop a community with people I may not have otherwise had the privilege to meet

Interests

Flying, hiking, rock climbing, really anything outdoors! I love traveling, music, good beer, and meeting new people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing moments of my life was probably rock climbing in Bishop. There's this one rock called the Grandma Peabody Boulder and its 55 feet tall. I went there with a group of friends and saw that rock and was inspired more than I've ever been to climb it. So I wandered down to the bottom and started messing around with the bottom portion of the climb. Next thing I knew, I was 20+ feet up it and my friend was yelling up that if I made another move I had to commit to finishing it! So I did, and it was probably one of the most intense feelings I've ever had, I've never been more aware of every fiber in my being. And the view was definitely worth it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can always share a bottle of wine or beer or a cup of coffee and good conversation. I'm excited to learn through this and so I'm excited to listen to your stories and experiences as well as share my own. I'd also love to share in adventures and I'm always down to try something new!
