About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new individuals and sharing meaningful conversation (though I admit I can be a bit quiet at times). I always have the most fun in new places when I get off the beaten path and get a bit lost. I know directions or a cab are just seconds away on my phone, but there is something freeing about just *looking* at your surroundings and really seeing them. To that end, staying in local neighborhoods and in actual homes generally appeals to me much more than other forms of short term housing and allows for a much more genuine experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bought a ticket for Europe on Wednesday evening and flew out on Thursday morning. Nothing like last minute planning!

Getting up close with the llamas (or alpacas, I don't know the difference) who call Machu Piccu home and then later just sitting on a hill overlooking the city and pondering life.

Going looking for some brits I met on a plane (who indicated they could be found at the only British pub in town) and instead finding a fellow traveler (visiting history professor doing research) who not only introduced me to some people he knew at a different bar but agreed to show me around the city (Cusco) the next day and proceeded to give me a fairly in depth history lesson about the city and Peru.

Climbing the stairs to see the monastery at Petra and then being awed by its enormity.
