Hi! I'm Keely. I'm 20 years old, from the west coast of Washington State, near Seattle. I'm currently on my third backpacking trip through Europe while in between college classes, and am considering attending the University of Glasgow later this year (biomedical sciences). I enjoy cooking and baking, pottery, crochet, and reading. I especially love learning. As long as I have a good teacher (person or book), I'm happy to discover any subject.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet unique and wonderful people who can give me more of an insider perspective on the city. Moving someplace new can be difficult, especially since I speak little French, so having someone to give me their take, maybe show me a couple of their favorite spots would be great.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm always on the hunt for more music to love, but I gravitate towards indie rock, classic rock, funk, and some classical. Lately, I'm been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd and Lake Street Dive.
I don't watch a lot of movies, but some TV shows I love are The Irregulars, Sense8, Star Trek: Next Gen, and, of course, ATLA.

The mouthwash Listerine was named after Dr. Joseph Lister, the doctor and surgeon who pioneered the use of sterile and antiseptic environments in the surgical field to prevent postoperative complications. Lister's seminar that inspired the creation of Listerine was also attended by the Johnson brothers, who went on to found the sterile bandage company Johnson and Johnson.

Grey whales are benthic filter feeders, meaning they scoop up sand and mud from the ocean floor and filter it through their baleen, leaving just the delicious little critters behind. The pits they leave in the sand from feeding are big enough to be seen by satellite!
