ABOUT ME

I like to listen and see. Sometimes I write because its part of how I experience the world. I love to dance. I make friends easily and don't often forget them. I like to read, I like history and understanding politics, though I still don't get it.

PHILOSOPHY

I am living my life to be in it. Please don't let me get swept away hoping for something else, because then once you get that next thing, chances are you wouldn't be able to appreciate that either. Trying not to depart before I leave.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel a lot, and am always respectful to those I encounter. When I can I take care of people I find traveling (or staying permanently as foreigners) where I am from. I have taken many people to see how gorgeous the hidden lakes of NY are. I sincerely appreciate the people who have shown me their lives and their homes in the same way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In my freshman year of college I went traveling with some friends to Portugal. We went without a plan and decided to go where ever people recommend. We accidentally wound up in a very nice expensive resort town. Having missed the last train out we had no choice but to search for the cheapest accomodation possible, but that was about 70$ a person. My budget for at least 3 or 4 days. We split up to search for hostels. My friends asked someone on the street "Do you know of anywhere particularly cheap to stay?" The woman looked them up and down "Are you honest?" She asked them "Yes" my friend replied. "How many of you are there?" She asked. "Five" "Go get your friends she replied. For two nights and three days we stayed in her pool house, she made us dinner and her son took us to the beach in the family van. None of us will ever forget that amazing family and our time with them. When we asked her how we could repay her, she said that we should do it for someone else one day. She is the grandmother of couch surfing. Pay it forward. And I will.
