Overview
About Me
I am young, easy-going arts enthusiast born and bred in Cape Town.
I love listening to and telling stories. Good wine, good food and conversation makes me very happy. Add in good gelato and I'll be beaming all night.
At 25 I'm taking huge leap and trying to do my Masters in Directing for Theatre on the East Coast
Back in Cape Town I am a free-lance Theatre Maker and Arts Educator. In 2015 I stared own theatre company, Mixing Bowl Productions, to swift the perception of musical theatre in South Africa.
I come from a fairly large family and therefore have learnt to be compassionate and understanding and also know how to entertain for hours (a compulsory trait to have in my family)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am coming to New York to audition for a masters programme in theatre. It's my first time being in a foreign city alone and I want to be able to meet and see the best of New York. Depending on how things go I might be staying awhile longer to visit universities and become familiar with the city.
I love meeting new people and hearing about their lives and Couchsurfing seems to be the perfect way to do that :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite Book: Shantaram. I have an emotional connection to this book. I read it when I was 16 and have read it every year at least once since then.
Favourite Film: I'm one of those people who loves so many films that my favourite consistently changes depending on my frame of mind.
Favourite Music: Vocal Jazz! It soothes my soul. I especially love artists who experiment with storytelling and poetry. Kurt Elling, Gregory Porter, Cecile Mclorin Salvant, Cassandra Wilson, Norma Winestone. However, my hero of jazz vocals is and will also be Mark Murphy
Teach, Learn, Share
I come from a very under-researched culture in South Africa. Not many people outside of South Africa really know how much the racial politics of the Apartheid Regime has effected contemporary, young lives in modern day South Africa. I like to think I have a pulse on the new wave of intellectualisation stirring in South Africa. I offer this history as a wonderful topic of discussion. I also have many many stories to tell which I am certain will amuse and entertain as they have been well practiced in front of an eager audience known as my family
