About Me

Hello!

I am currently living in Montana where I work at a local nonprofit that repurposes construction materials. I wrote a zine about composting with two of my good friends (ask me about it!) and during grad school, I was part of a sustainable living community. I also freelance as a writer for a comics blog and enjoy talking to people about different fandoms (Marvel vs. DC, Avatar the Last Airbender, One Piece, Harry Potter). Smiling and laughing are my favorite, as are comics, chocolate, and cats :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All my hosts have been fantastic and I've met some truly wonderful people! :) I can not think of a better way to travel and I truly believe the best way to explore a new place is to have a local take you around.

Interests

Reading, being outdoors, public art, photography, cheesy music like High School Musical, snail mail, need felting (and trying to learn how to knit AND crochet), and grocery shopping just to name a few :) My partner and I like to go on hikes and forage together!

Music, Movies, and Books

This is from growing up in the 90s and 00s, but Backstreet Boys are my all-time favorite group! Also, any music that is catchy and easy to sing along to :)

Zoolander, Up, and Elf are my absolute favorite movies and I can watch them over and over again. I love anything by Studio Ghibli too!

I no longer work in book publishing, but I still love reading! These are some of my favorite titles, but really, there are just so many to choose from!

1. House in the Cerulean Sea, by TJ Klune
2. Matilda, by Roald Dahl
3. 1Q84, by Haruki Murakami
4. The Cat Who Saved Books, by Sosuke Matsukawa
5. Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine
6. Holes, by Louis Sachar
7. The Harry Potter series
8. The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho
9. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
10. Crazy Rich Asians, by Kevin Kwan

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studying abroad has definitely been one of the best things I've done in my entire life! I spent time in Sweden and Bulgaria, and am always wanting to connect with people that have also been there!

I love love LOVE national parks and my favorite is Yellowstone National Park! Eventually I'd love to make it to all the national parks in the USA!

A lot of my traveling experiences have stemmed from reading about a place and thinking, "I want to do this! I'll plan a trip now!" Perfect examples were going to Albuquerque, New Mexico to see the Balloon Fiesta and Puerto Rico to kayak in the bioluminescent bay :D

I've also been to 40/50 US states! My goal is to make it to all 50!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about new things and meeting new people, and I believe that Couchsurfing is one of the best ways to connect with a place and locals :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy washing dishes. It's very therapeutic. :D I'm also happy to cook Chinese food!
