ABOUT ME

I have lived in a city of over a million (Kumamoto, Japan) as well as a remote Montana town of under 7,000 (Lewistown). I love Helena - it has excellent schools, is centrally located in Montana, and has some of the best mountain biking in the world!! Currently entering my third year living in Montevideo.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have surfed on many peoples' couches, but only a few through this app. I have hosted a number of pretty amazing folks from around the states and the world thanks to CouchSurfing.org, though, and have now had a couple EXCELLENT surfing experiences myself!

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

OK, I FAIL. Too many... like the unique temples and onsens (spas) visited in Japan. The landscape of Bagan in northern Burma. Hosting some awesome couch surfers last summer! The Floral Park Hike in Glacier National Park... in fact, just Glacier National Park. Sweating with travel mates and home owner in a little igloo type structure in our host's back yard - Todos Santos, Guatemala. Seeing Tiger Woods finish the British Open as he teed off and came up the 18th at St. Andrews... Hiking to the top of Ben Nevis on a clear day!?! Kayaking numerous streams/rivers in the Olympic Peninsula. Whitewater kayaking the winter waves on the Oregon Coast at Haystack Rock. Mountain biking Helena, MT!! Also some cool rides in Moab, other parts of Montana, and Taos, NM. Seeing El Salvador defeat the USA in a World Cup Qualifier in Salt Lake City, UT. The Rolling Stones in Missoula, MT. Jimmy Buffet concerts in WA and CA... U2 concert in CO. Biking up Going-to-the-Sun Highway in Glacier NP. Driving a pedal-bike taxi and singing late-night karaoke in Burma. Making it to a monkey preserve in East Malaysia outside of Kuching. Spending 3 days with the most unlikely of compadres - a RAF bomber pilot and a Czechoslavakian who was a driver for the Russian officers beneath - we met and shared stories over 3 days waiting for a US Airways plane on mechanical to get to the USA... And so many more - our world is one big Amazing Collection of Adventures to be found!
