关于我

I'm a 22-year-old recent college graduate looking to explore beyond New England (Europe, in particular).

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Europe for the first time, and looking to exchange knowledge, culture, and experiences with other individuals excited about building a global community. Going to the "hole-in-the-wall" and local-advised points of interest is always the best method of discovering great new things, so ideally the generous community on Couchsurfing will be as excited to share recommendations with us, as we will be to go experience them for the first time.

***I am NOT interested in hooking up, dating, or any of the other "alternative" uses of CS***
If you're a host anticipating "special favors" in return, move on to the next one and maybe try Tinder instead.
Perhaps I'm just naïve, being new to CS, however the cultural exchange aspect, coupled with worldwide hospitality and an interest in creating genuine friendships through travel truly is the reason I'm on this site (in addition, of course, to saving money--let's be honest, that's at least one reason a lot of us are on here, and it's not a bad thing either! Being hospitable and helping others is an invaluable currency with the best exchange rate of them all). Others on this site who are passionate about sharing their corner of the world for a day or two with excited travelers, I hope to meet you on our travels and utilize this site as intended!

音乐、电影和书籍

My music taste spans many genres--from Latin Jazz (my area of formal study), to Progressive Metal (my other focus), Baroque, Bebop, UK Grime, "Old School" American 1990s hip-hop, Funk, 2-Step Garage, bluegrass, and countless others. The only music I'm not particularly fond of is pop country and opera.
My favorite movies are The Dark Knight, The Lady in Number 6 (a documentary that changed my life), and Wall-E.
Some of my favorite books include 1984, Brave New World, Different Seasons by Stephen King, various philosophers' works, and poetry primarily by Emily Dickinson and Tomas Tranströmer.

I'll happily elaborate on this selection in person!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Winter camped in an abandoned Cold War Radar Base in rural Vermont in -50 degree weather... and loved every second of it!

I have a wide range of interests and skills I will happily share with hosts.
Having worked as a personal trainer and started my own training company, any host looking to receive a workout plan or lifting advice I would happily oblige.
Additionally, having worked as a chef for four years in conjunction with my interest in blacksmithing and knives, I can teach hand-sharpening techniques on a Japanese stone and personally sharpen any kitchen cutlery of my host, while also teaching them about the various styles, steels, and techniques of knives.
Furthermore, being a college-trained musician, I am also capable of teaching even the most "un-musical" host basic drumming patterns sure to "wow" any future guests, or to show off to friends at parties when someone whips out a drum kit (or a few pots and pans).
Another interesting skill is the basic knowledge of brewing Mead. Having worked as an assistant brewer at a Meadery in Colechester, VT, I am capable of conveying all the essentials for my host to begin brewing their own honey wines (it's easier than you think).
