About Me

Hello everyone! I am originally from the Bay Area, near San Francisco in California. Four years ago I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana for college and I recently graduated from Tulane University. I studied public health and hope to one day work on international food security issues, but for now, I'm teaching health and wellness and working as a server to pay my bills. I absolutely love trying/cooking new foods, hiking, yoga, adventure, meeting new people, and hearing unique stories from people around the world. I am ALWAYS down for a nice cold beer and a chance to share perspectives and laughs with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS because I believe in genuine human connection. I think that CS offers the best opportunity to truly understand what a place is like from the local or basically local perspective, learn about other cultures, and meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am terrible at answering these kinds of questions.

Music: I'll listen to almost anything. I listen to a lot of what I guess would be considered alternative, indie, classic rock, or anything upbeat with a good rhythm to it which includes rap or bluegrass or techno or whatever. Currently, I've been listening to a lot of Crooked Colours, Hozier, Louis the Child, Kai Straw, old Alt-J, Mura Masa, Manu Chao, and Banks. I also LOVE songs in other languages.

Books: I don't read enough, but favorites of mine are Prescription for a Healthier Nation (nerdy I know), Mountains Beyond Mountains, Tales of the City, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Movies: I can't name a favorite movie, but as far as TV goes my favorites include House, Scrubs, Black Mirror, Sense 8, Lovesick, and Planet Earth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one of my cooler life experiences happened when I was in India in 2014. The people I was with and I hiked up to one of the mountains at the base of the Himalayas and set up camp there for a couple of days. One night the clouds cleared and we all laid outside our tents and looked up at the stars. There weren't any lights for miles and you could see the entire Milky Way. I have never felt so small or seen something so remarkable. Moments like that are the ones that inspire me to continue traveling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always excited to learn new things, especially languages. I'm also very open about my life and experiences. I think life is better when you share your experiences, food, and good times with others. As far as teaching goes, I can cook really simple and delicious zucchini stir fry, other than that I can probably tutor you in Calculus or something.... As you can see I have very marketable skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences, my appreciation, and I can help with cooking or cleaning. I will never stop thanking you for opening your home to me and I will happily share anything I can!
