About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finish writing a book.

ABOUT ME

Hi couchsurfers! my name is Ken. im living in a small town, Oketo which locates half hour drive from Kitami city. and im currently working at a local agricultural and forestry company that produces organic onions, potatoes, wheat, sugar beets, etc. we also plant young pine trees as well as fell/lumber trees in mountains. therefore, i have to deal with different tasks every day such as operating tractors, backhoe, power shovels, dump truck, and sometimes using chainsaw and mower in mountains. working 9 hrs a day and 6 days a week is pretty tough, but at the same time, im enjoying this simple life in the nature!
i work as a seasonal worker from spring till autumn because it often snows and the temperature gets even -20 degree in winter and i just can't/don't want to work outside in the snowy mountains so that i usually come back to my hometown, Nagoya to relax and occasionally do some part time job during the winter.

PHILOSOPHY

"war is over"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

through couch surfing, i made some good friends. i surfed at their places as CS guest at first, and years later, they surfed at my place as friend. so did the opposite. and it is totally awesome, isnt it? and also, through meeting different people in the world, they give me chances to think about my culture and other people's culture. in short, i learn "importance of balance".

Music, Movies, and Books

I am basically jack of all trades. in my youth, i roamed around the world especially China and India without even a backpack and literally slept outside day after day like a street dog. and also, i deeply traveled in Russia and middle east like anthropologist and explorer. based on those experiences, i love the chaos in the Old World and love music, movies and books that i can feel vibes of people's joy, anger, and sadness.

Movies: Kes, Still Life, Pather Panchali and more!

Music: Oasis, Alai Oli, Los Kjarkas, Wang Fei., and more from EDM to Chinese pop, Bollywood and cumbia!

Books: Canadian Eskimo (HONDA Katsuichi), Voyage of Mongol (UMESAO Tadao), Flowers for Algernon, and more...
my recent favorite novelist, Kikuko Tsumura.
Manga artists: Anno Moyoco, Higashimura Akiko, and Okazaki Kyoko.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
