关于我

Kenneth was incarnated in London 1989. It was a difficult birth, which his mother often reminds him when he is being difficult. Perhaps, like me, you’re already finding this ‘Kenneth’ guy outrageously annoying but lucky for you, you don’t have to put up with him beyond this point. However, if you’re still interested, then you must be extremely charitable and your Nobel Peace Prize is in the post.

Yau is a mildly exciting person, looking to travel and meet some new people along the way. Due to his unhealthy desire to upgrade himself from mildly exciting to full-out cool, he decides to attempt CouchSurfing to impress his family, friend and his esteemed colleagues at work.

音乐、电影和书籍

I haven’t always been into books but my late grandfather reminded with “if you are what you eat, then you are what you read.” If I fall short to have the pleasure of meeting you in person, below is a list of books I cannot recommend more if you fancy a good read;

Selfish Gene – Richard Dawkins, if you are interested in biology and evolution then this is the best starting read. Richard explains human behaviour from an evolutionary biological stand point, from why are there douchebags in this world (using game theory) to the battle of the sexes. Also this is the book where the word “meme” was first coined.

Sophie’s World – Jostein Gaarder, if Selfish Gene is the book of “evolution of biology” then Sophie’s World is the book of “evolution of philosophy”. This lovely little thing will take you through time from 600BC of pre-Socratic philosophers to Jean-Paul Sartre.

Justice: What's the Right Thing to Do? - Michael Sandel, this is another book on philosophy but what a book. This mind blowing piece will refresh your concept on fairness, choice and “how not to be a dick”. If you’ve ever struggled reading Immanuel Kant like me, the explanation here is the best I’ve ever read.

A Brief History of Time – Stephen Hawking, if the above didn’t satisfy your thirst and want to have a rough idea on how the world came to be, then I’d have to recommend this sexy tome. It starts off simple from how the ancient Greeks figured out our planet was round to the discoveries of Galileo, Newton, and Einstein.

How Not to be Wrong – Jordan Ellenberg, Now if “how not to be a dick” is of no concern to you then you better be right. Jordan applies maths theory into our everyday lives. It talks about how survival bias can skew your judgement and how you might be able to win the lottery one day. Many are put off by maths but I think this will change your mind.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Many moons ago, in a store, a person came up to me and kindly asked me for some money. "Mate, are you going to use it to buy crack?" I inquisitively investigated. To my surprise, the friendly face sarcastically replied, “Well yea, what do you think I do with my shitload of spare time?” I handed over £10 as my knowledge on pharmaceutical pricing is non-existence, hoping it was enough and cheerfully said “Happy Mother’s Day”. That person was mummy.

I can make you dinner if you like and if you’re an adventurous person who wouldn’t mind chancing food poisoning. Alternatively, may I offer you dinner to your favourite local restaurant? There, we can establish that you are probably the more interesting person with mind stimulating conversations. And of course I will bring you something from London.
