Born and raised in Philly and I venture out whenever I feel the need. It's the people I meet during my adventures who make the experience for me - I tend to dislike touristy stuff and spending time in little Westernized pockets abroad. I like the people, the culture, the food, the experience. You also wouldn't know just by looking at me but I'm probably the biggest nerd there is. All I do is read books on a variety of subjects that interest me. Anyways, I'm pretty chill for the most part and I tend to connect with a lot people. Everyone is a friend I haven't met yet.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I primarily participate by hosting folks. I've only surfed twice myself; in Egypt and Ethiopia, and they were AMAZING experiences (thanks Abdou and Golda!)... It's been a challenge to be consistent with hosting lately because of my own travels but I'm trying to do better.

Hopefully this announcement will be more visible in this section because apparently, people seem to be missing it in the couch information section:

I love to travel (obviously). Other interests include reading books, listening to music and podcasts, playing videogames, meeting great people, learning about and experiencing other cultures, etc. I am very progressive and I really enjoy conversations about geo-politics, international relations, foreign policy and that sort of thing. Other random interests include cooking, swimming, going for walks, hitting the gym (i.e working out), randomly researching any and every thing, astronomy (not so much astrology!), zoology, geography, law, and all things public health/global health.

I only read non-fiction - anything to do with socio-politics, socio-economics, law, history, and anything that has to do with making the world a better place. All my favorite movies have moved me in some way. I'm a huge fan of *real* underground hip-hop (i.e. not the corporate stuff you hear in the mainstream and on the radio - there's a difference!) as well as R&B, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Funk, World music, etc.
