Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn about, know and love all humanity.
ABOUT ME
With a conscious effort to give my four children (all now grown) a true experience of what it means to be a world citizen - I've hosted guests from French Guiana, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine,
Kenya, Austria, Australia, Iran, France, United Arab Emerites, Ethiopia, Israel and other places - all before I knew about CouchSurfing! I wasn't wealthy, so invited guests to stay anything from overnight up to the Russian family for 5 months. My idea of travel is getting to know the true culture and people, not just the tourist destinations.
PHILOSOPHY
We are all one family!
The Earth is but one Country, and Mankind its Citizens.
Be happy, if not now, then when?
Live in Faith, not in Fear!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I gave a young man a ride from Seward Alaska to Anchorage, Alaska and he introduced me to Couchsurfing. I have hosted several guests through Couchsurfing, Airbnb and Furnished Finders (the past couple of years I've hosted traveling nurses for 3 - 6 month stays). I just retired from full-time work and I'm now traveling while living the "digital nomad" lifestyle as a virtual bookkeeper. I am eager to meet new people as I begin this phase of my journey on the planet - maybe as your guest!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I’ve hosted some wonderful people who I can now count as friends! My first surfing experience was wonderful - I met a kindred spirit in Sydney!
Interests
Talking with people from everywhere. Learning about the viewpoints, cultures and experiences of other people by sharing times together. I like outdoor activities (camping, hiking, biking, fishing) going to museums and cultural events, music, dancing, traveling (with a backpack or with first-class accomodations and everything in between). I love to eat food from different places - but I don't cook much anymore since my kids are grown and gone.

Music, Movies, and Books
Last read: The Kite Runner, Three Cups of Tea, The Secret Life of Bees, Brain Rules, The China Study (about vegan diet), and books on Yoga; I LOVE all kinds of music... classical, folk, 50's/60's rock, Big Band, jazz... rap is my least favorite, but when the message is positive even that is good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Biggest accomplishment? Raised four daughter who are all dynamic, intelligent, compassionate human beings with wonderful families of their own. Most daring? Flew in a stunt airplane doing loop-d-loops in the sky. Allowed myself to be hoisted straight up 280 feet into the air with a crane atop a cliff and then "free fall" dropped on a bungee cord! I made peace with my Maker on that one!
Teach, Learn, Share
I volunteered with the Anchorage Literacy Project as a teacher of English as a Second Language. My students were courageous, hard-working, intelligent people from all over the world - trying to learn a new language in a new land! I admire their tenacity, hopeful optimism, and dedication to learning English. While I was called Teacher in the classroom, it is really me who was learning the most, thanks to my students!
