Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm pretty new. I'd like to ease my way into this. Maybe tell me why you'd be fun and not unpleasant. I'm often told I'm good at making people feel comfortable and finding ways to make things interesting.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed on lots of couches and make myself a useful houseguest. New to this website though.
Interests
art and architecture; reading and writing; spirituality and sociology.
I like to feel that I know people and places well. i stick with hole-in-the-wall and neighborhood type places-nothing orients you more quickly than getting a little local dirt on what's going on...
I love buildings that are works of art or made using found objects. Functional art on a monumental scale.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: History of all sorts, dark humor and satire (Will Self and Kurt Vonnegut especially)
Music: Anything that takes me somewhere beautiful and far-out. I mostly stick in the 60's with exotica, country, surf rock, and oldskool rock n roll. also surreal music, older country, some punk, san francisco kind of hip hop, etc.....
Movies: by oversexed Italians, especially with psychadelic 60's soundtracks.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to do humanitarian work- I got to sail from Seattle to Galveston and go through the Panama Canal. You can feel the history of the place and it has so much natural beauty combined with larger than life infrastructure- huge ships, locks, trains, and enormous neon signs telling you where to go.
Teach, Learn, Share
Interesting to me: Some counties in Colorado do not have building codes, other than water and electrical. This means people can live in anything they wish, and use building techniques such as adobe, rammed earth, rubble building, papercrete, converted boxcars, etc. Most building codes prohibit the use of these building types, which often have great insulation, use local materials, can be inexpensive, and create a unique feel.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Fun and enthusiasm, get food or drink for you, adapt to the situation and what you want to do, all while respecting your space and cleaning up after myself.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland
