ABOUT ME

I'm generally a pretty quiet person. I enjoy trying new things. I grew up in the US, but spent the last few years doing a master's in Germany. I recently got a job in Tokyo and am in the process of moving there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting all the interesting people that use this site. Up until now, I've only couchsurfed at others' houses, but I hope to be able to host after getting a long-term apartment.

anything by Peter Hessler (which I recommend to anyone, but especially people interested in China), other favorite authors are Mario Vargas Llosa and Julio Cortázar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sounds pretty mundane, but last year when I visited Morocco, I ended up sleeping on the terrace of a hostel on one of the last nights of my stay in Tangiers because I had some trouble breathing there. It was really nice in the cool before dawn in the morning dew to listen to the call to prayer coming out in waves around me from different mosques around the city.
