Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no experience with couchsurfing so far, but I am hoping to change that as soon as possible! I want to meet people and share our experiences!

Interests

I like to spend as much time as possible exploring the outdoors. Natural places have an aliveness and an inherent wisdom that no man-made place can rival. I feel most at home when I am off of the beaten path, in a place where few people set foot. Places like that are pure and one can learn and immense amount from them. However, this does not mean that I do not enjoy the high-energy pulse of an urban area. Cities excite me and help to pull me out of my comfort zone! I also enjoy playing music (I play the guitar and violin), being active (in any way possible), meditation, yoga, and engaging conversation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a week in Canyonlands National Park in Utah, climbing incredible rock formations, and exploring a desolate and fascinating area. This week may have changed my life and tested my nerves more than almost any other in my life.

I spent three days with my family hiking from one rim of the Grand Canyon to the other.

At the age of 16, I spent two weeks living with a German family in Hamburg, Germany, which totally pulled me out of my element, and taught me a lot about interacting with people, and forming connections with those who are quite different from myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a strong interest in the food we eat, the thought we put into it, and the way in which it affects our day-to-day lives. I think many people could benefit from learning more about their own dietary choices. After all, we are what we eat. I would like to think I'm a decent cook as well. I would like to learn more about..anything! If it is real and a part of the world, I want to know about it! The world has an infinite array of skills and knowledge! More specifically, I would very much like to learn more about being self-sufficient, including producing my own food, taking care of my own possessions, and generally relying on myself first-and-foremost as I go through life.
