I'm a music producer who's lived in and worked in Nashville for the past 7 years and am getting ready to travel hopefully for the next few. My partner and I live in a tiny house that we built ourselves and after getting some things in place are itching to get away for a while.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met some lifelong friends through couchsurfing.com and have had many unforgettable experiences. I've been to a few local meet ups and have always enjoyed the conversation. I play pick-up sports every week and often find that being around diverse groups of people, hearing different stories and struggles, reminds me of my own humanity. Not to mention there's a great energy being around folks that challenge your stereotypes and preconceptions and that live and love in different ways than I do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted travelers from all around the world including Australia, Poland, Germany, India, England, and all over the US.

I've couchsurfed myself a handful of times in the states as well as woofed and couchsurfed not through the website plenty and hope to do a lot more soon!

兴趣

I love to play sports, volleyball, soccer, tennis, basketball, anything really. About a year ago I got a generations old sourdough starter from my dad and have since been making sourdough bread a few times a month. Following the tiny house build, I've toyed with some wood working and furniture building. I enjoy reading recent and contemporary classics like Thoreau, Hemingway, Kerouac, and probably my favorite so far, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There are far too many! My partner and I are vegetarians.

Music

Anything that grooves for sure. Ray Charles, DeAngelo. I like to move. Lately I've been in to Americana/folk songwriting, which tends not to groove ironically, but can be more poetic and thoughtful.

Movies

I haven't watched enough. "La La Land" was enthralling and "Manchester by the Sea" was beautiful and impactful. If a movie has ever inspired me it was "Diarios de Motocicleta."

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

There was a homeless Vietnam vet here in Nashville that I got to know and lived with me off and on for a year and some change. He was in his 60s and hadn't really seen his family in decades. Among the crazy chilling stories he would tell about his life which played on repeat, he would often speak of his childhood home in rural Alabama. I felt like I had to take him back, partly because I craved some tangible representation of this man's past which felt so separate from his everyday experience, and partly because I wanted to see how he would react to being there. So we went, and it was an unforgettable experience. We saw some family graves, land, schools, even his uncle who probably last saw him when he got home from the war, and as he experienced it new memories and buried feelings surfaced. He was really a different, or maybe fuller person who mattered and had connections with the world. He ended up taking a bus to Florida where his daughter lives after arriving back in Nashville and I wonder if that Alabama trip had any influence on that decision.

I love to cook and bake bread. I can teach cello, guitar, and songwriting. I also know a bit about building and home repair.
