About Me

Previously I lived in Beppu, Oita to be exact. In case you may wonder, it is located in Kyushu - Southern Japan, and if you haven't heard of Kyushu, you may have heard of Fukuoka, which is the 8th largest city in Japan. However, do not freak out when you discover that I was also in Winterthur, Switzerland on my exchange semester. And out of nowhere, I'm living in Rotterdam now.
I don't want to gloat but people said I am nice and good at planning :))

First of all, you cannot miss out on Beppu. The most significant characteristic of Beppu's hot springs is the richness of its resources. The volume of water discharged is second only to that of the Yellowstone National Park in the United States, the largest hot spring resort in the world. I bet you will die for the joy of having the private hot spring to yourself especially on a cold winter day.

In a more general perspective, as underrated as it may seem to be, Kyushu is the paradise of Japan. The climate is quite comfy and there are definitely more sunshine. There is no short of natural beauty to discover, namely Aso Volcano, Takachiho Gorge, Huis Ten Bosch, Sasebo, Nokonoshima island and such. And if fine food is the nectar of your life, beware of andrenaline overdose when you approach the street food scene of Fukuoka. Hakata ramen is also the best ramen in Japan.

Last but not least, I cannot leave out Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh City), the most exciting city in Vietnam. Don't bother thinking of the Vietnam war because it ended almost 40 years ago. Ho Chi Minh City has become an active and exciting tourist hub with so many things to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being in Japan has its perks, but the country is actually an archipelago (which is not a bad thing) facing the Pacfic Ocean. Now that I am in Europe (again), the chances are that I will explore the continent more often.

Interests

I am into hi-tech gadget as well as photography, which I am not quite good at unfortunately. I used to have a buddy for exploring eateries, we kinda discover the new places in town for food and beverages and write about them at https://www.facebook.com/FoodLifeInBeppu?fref=ts
(She is in charge now as I am not in Japan)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to any songs that I like.
There are so many good movies out there, I don't wanna pick, at all.
I am not into books but I believe traveling to new lands will broaden my mind as much as staying on your couch reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One day we partied so hard and loud that the cops actually came. They spoke Japanese and I spoke English to them. Some of us had to hide in the balcony so that the police did not find out. We continued after they left.
However, I am definitely NOT A PARTY ANIMAL.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese. Free 1-day course available for anyone who hosts me :))

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my passion on food and Japan. If you wanna visit Vietnam, I think I am kinda good at giving advice, especially when you travel to Saigon. My high school was in the city center so I got every good things of the city to myself :))

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Cambodia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
