Overview
About Me
I think others would describe me as calm, independent, optimistic and easy-going. I love to see new places and meet people and experience new ways of living, and am constantly being drawn by new opportunities that take me to unexpected places. I enjoy traveling because it forces you to adapt to new situations and possibilities, and keeps you present because there is so much beauty to see.
Currently I'm on a huge cross-country road-trip to NY trying to soak up as much of this beautiful, dysfunctional, crazy landscape and culture as possible before heading overseas for a peace corps position. I'm excited to couch-surf again as I only got to do it once and it was such a wonderful experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Anthony Bourdain said, "Travel is not a reward for working, it's an education for living." Couchsurfing provides a cheap way to travel that I feel will allow me to experience places in a unique and very authentic way. There's also the opportunity to meet people with a similar way of thinking about life and the world and how to experience those things.
Music, Movies, and Books
I don't have any favorites. I listen to a wide variety of music and artists; for me it's less about a style or person and more the feeling of a song and the lyrics. I enjoy reading, but tend to go through long phases/seasons of not reading. I really love poetry too. And in terms of movies...the only thing I don't do is scary movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled by bus from Colorado to Mexico.
Teach, Learn, Share
As a native English speaker, I can help anyone who wants to practice or improve their English communication skills. Food and cooking are also things I like to discuss and share.
I want to learn as much as I can, in whatever way I can, in any subject or field of interest. Different languages, cultural practices, religion, astrology etc. are all really fascinating to me.
After growing up in a city, experiencing different outdoor activities and sports is also something I'm interested in. I'd love to be more confident hiking, camping etc. etc. and I really want to be handy and learn to build and fix things and be self-sufficient and independent.
