CURRENT MISSION

to travel to croatia, the land of my grandparents, and to try to survive and enjoy a year or so in a european city, possibly with winter in the mountains.

ABOUT ME

I have just come to a four year period of living and studying in my home town of Auckland New Zealand. Im 26 and i feel the urge to travel-i have done for some time and finally i am doing it! im going to head to croatia first of all, via frankfurt for three days. i have family in croatia, my grandfather left there around a century ago and married a croatian girl in nz. after a few weeks i will move on- if i can find work there i may see the end of summer out, if not i would like to try my luck in berlin. as a lover of the arts and social sciences berlin is somewhat of a mecca. also as a lover of the outdoors i would like to spend winter living and working at a ski resort.

PHILOSOPHY

one simple thing - love. every other detail we as humans prescribe to notions of a higher power are just that - projections of our dreams and imaginations. one thing will heal this world, without which nothing else matters - love. if we can strive for a bit more of it each day we will surley get somewhere.

So far I have hosted one couch surfer from france and two from usa in 2007 in grey lynn, auckland nz. i have only just signed up but i plan to host surfers when i have an established residence, im days away from embarking on travel where i hope to be the gracious reciepent of waves of couch surf hospitality

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted one couch surfer from france. I did not plan this, but i ended up getting on with this fellow very well and he and i spent the following day bumming round the city. we got hung out and went to see the batman film that was playing at the time. it was perfect! now he is on my facebook page and i will email him when im in europe

im always open to a suggestion of a good book. one book that has stood out to me in recent years is shantaram.
the beats i have immersed myself in recent years, keuroac, burroughs. hunter s thompson. many many books, avid reader of history, rock biographies . popular culture and social histories, underground themes. photography and art books, music magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

recorded an album in a studio in a tropical rainforest on absoultly no budget after being stranded in a foreign city for 4 months with no instruments. traveled to the land of my grandparents and stayed in house where grandfather was born, now a protected UNESCO historical site.

Teach, Learn, Share

i have been playing guitar for over ten years and am always happy to show the basics. i know a few really good tricks to make simple stuff sound great, blues scales etc. also i can relate guitar playing to the instruction of snowboarding, i know a few tricks for teaching snowboarding as well. as an arts grad i can teach conversational english. being kiwi im good with tools and around the house and in the out doors and will give anything a go.
