About Me

Hey all!
I'm a soon-to-be 24 year old from a small town in Virginia. However, I don't really consider myself a "Virginian". The travel bug hit me as a child, and I've moved a lot because of it. I've lived in Indiana, Arizona, Minnesota (my favorite state so far), North Carolina, Colorado, Mississippi, Argentina, Washington, D.C., Maryland, New York (upstate), Georgia...and I think that's about it. I just finished a 10 month long term with AmeriCorps NCCC, and am ready to do some serious travel. I work in the mental health field, which I love but makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes. I have a six year old niece who just happens to be my favorite person on the entire planet, and am attached at the hip to my Kindle. My 3 year goal is to take 3 months off of work and just spend that time backpacking through Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because it seems like a great way to meet people, while also getting a better feel for the areas I visit. Checking in and out of a hotel is one thing, and great for a lot of people; I'm more interested in actually staying with someone that knows that area and could give me some feedback as to local activities or places I shouldn't pass up. Couchsurfing just makes me more excited to travel.
I haven't been able to host, but I especially look forward to starting in the next couple of months and meeting people from all over!

Interests

I'm interested in travel, reading, film, and running. I'm not one person that has one specific hobby that I'm really knowledgeable about and like doing. I just dabble in a little bit of everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge movie buff. I'm a sucker for any Marvel movie, but I watch a lot of indie films as well. My favorite movies are What Maisie Knew, The Shawshank Redemption, Requiem for a Dream, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, That is What I Am, Divergent, The Way He Looks... and a bunch more. I also like pretty much any documentary.
I don't really know how to define my music tastes. I love anything by Kygo, The Weeknd, Broods, ODESZA, W I S H I W A S, Vanic (especially with K. Flay. FLAWLESS duo), Tove Lo, any remix by Branchez, Ellie Goulding, and Vindata. I'm also a HUGE fan of Drake. He's just crazy talented.
I'm a big reader as well. I read a lot of romance (don't judge me) and the occasional biography. My favorite books are Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allfred, the Gone Series by Michael Grant, and the Cut & Run series by Abigail Roux. Oh, and Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done was spend a weekend in Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. I went with 3 other friends and we just had the time of our lives meeting people at our hostel and enjoying the beach.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some conversational American Sign Language, and am interested in getting better. I think ASL is just a beautiful language , and live connecting with people who share my interest in it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my (limited) international travel experiences and my crazy AmeriCorps experience. However, I like to hear about the interests and experiences of others! I'm also always down to talk movies and books :)
