CURRENT MISSION

Looking to set up camp all over Portland, starting in July. Hoping to finish my next album with friends, as well as to perform as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

well, i guess i'd have to say i'm a songwriter. though not a professional, that's the profession i've chosen. it's fun, fulfilling, mind-and nervewracking all at the same time and i love it. i write and sing in what has been for the most part a one man band i call Gobloots (www.myspace.com/childevangelist).
i'm currently working on songs for a new album, which at the moment have only met the record button on my Sanyo ghettoblaster. i also hope to recruit friends and musicians in portland to help me with this next collection of songs.
i also hope to one day get back into writing short stories, novels, screenplays, etc. maybe a little acting. i have a reasonable work ethic, yet i'm honestly willfully unemployed.
i'm a drinker. i am pot friendly, but not so much these days. i've been cutting down, but if the occasion or atmosphere were proper, odds are i'd smoke. it's no biggie. i can also honestly say i may come off as neurotic, but not the bad kind. i'd hope my neurosis would come off as maybe endearing. i can be quiet, but not for too long. there's always something to say or talk about. i love good and intense conversations. whether alcohol is involved or not.

weary with apathy and homelessness, i left southern california last august, with my awesome traveling buddy mary love and came up north to McMinnville, where i surfed around for awhile, performed/busked, and recorded my last lo-fi acoustic effort. at the moment i reside in a quiet, endearing but eccentric little town called Cottage Grove, Oregon. since then i've been in and out of Washington and Portland, OR.
i started a band here, called Termite Dog and in a few days will be recording an album of oldies/folk/punk/folk-punk/country songs. after that, i'm free to roam where my heart is most content.

PHILOSOPHY

practicing secular/humanist, with a sprinkle of agnostic.

i tie myself to no religion. i try to believe in god as the manifestation of all that's best and great in ourselves. all the good we can do or be.
the same applies to life, in my opinion. i try to believe in life as something that we strive to do either our best or worst at without expecting anything in return, whether it be heaven or hell. i believe heaven and hell are all here with us on earth, in this life. it's up to us what we make of it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i tried couchsurfing.com last year, and had only one experience. my host who will remain nameless, was very nice and welcoming the first two days, but soon got a little weird. story is, she is a very pretentious and overly intense cat lady. we both left town for a night, and made it known i probably wouldn't be back that night to check on her cats, which she understood. later that night, i called to reassure her of so, and she became horribly unpleasant over the phone, and i have to say i was wrongfully booted from her house. sort of left feeling scared of trying this site again, i deleted my account and ended up in oregon.
now, since my faith in humanity has been reestablished, i'm looking to try again.

i've seen the flaming lips live on new years eve, which changed my life quite significantly, and i greyhounded from houston, tx to los angeles when i was 14. it flew by so fast, but in retrospect i can't believe i didn't notice the beauty in it all.
