About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have interesting stories to tell when I'm old.
ABOUT ME
Originally from Lviv, Ukraine, I grew up and did my undergraduate schooling in Toronto (the most multicultural city in the world, according to the UN, apparently). Currently I'm studying in the picturesque Krakow, Poland, and using this time to see as much of the world as I can afford.
PHILOSOPHY
There's an old soviet song that translates to: "There's only a moment between the past and the present, and that moment is called life." I think that trying to do the most that you can with the present and not dwelling on the past or desperately looking to the future is a good goal in life. It's a hard goal, but a good one.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still very new to couchsurfing, so I don't have too much experience... So far it's just meeting people for dinner, but I hope that I will organize myself so that I can host soon.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met a couchsurfer while travelling with classmates and another one who was visiting Krakow. What I really liked about the couchsurfers was the open-minded approach they had to life, the insights they had and the huge variety of things we could talk about. It's like my mind expands every time I meet one!
Interests
Cycling, dancing, costume-making/sewing, matrial arts (especially Brazilian Jiu Jutsu), painting, crafting, Doctor Who (and really, sci-fi in general), sociology, fashion, puns, and deep discussions about the state of the world. I have a tendency to pick up hobbies, love them obsessively and then not have the time/opportunity to keep doing them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not terribly picky with music as long as I can dance to it.
Action and Sci-fi movies are the best! Specifically, I have a soft spot for the old Schwarzenegger movies. I love costumes too, so I enjoy the movies that have really original or ornate ones. Movies with strong character development are cool too.
I honestly don't read enough books that aren't for school. It's sad. >_
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got a costuming award for dressing up as Neytiri, the alien from Avatar. I dyed myself blue using food colouring and danced around on stage in a bikini in front of hundreds of people.
Teach, Learn, Share
Most days school makes me feel like a repository of medical trivia, so I guess there's always that.
I'm pretty crafty and resourceful too - I once made a fox mask out of branches from a tree and paper towels. It turned out pretty good because no one believed it until I showed them.
I want to learn more about hiking, camping and all that outdoorsey stuff because I never really had the opportunity to do that.
