ABOUT ME

I really don't like self-descriptions but if i have to do it, i guess i might as well start with the basics:
I'm Kilian, 25 years old as of now (2014), youngest child of polish immigrants in Germany, where i've grown up and am still living. I've never lost my connection to Poland, though, where i still have family and a place to go at least once a year. Naturally i speak the language, too.
I'm studying comparative literature studies and chinese studies and doing the usual part-time-job-stuff in order to make my living somehow. Besides that i read a lot, write myself (all kinds of texts, but there's a lot of poetry and short prose there), listen to music, play videogames and of course do all sorts of activities with my friends.
I think people usually describe me as a quiet person on first sight but don't get fooled: i can get really passionate when i'm into something and as i'm interested in very different things and love to get to know new persons and their interests that can happen rather quickly^^

PHILOSOPHY

Hm, i don't think i have finished a real philosophy of my own yet and i doubt i will manage to do so but in fact i think a lot about the world and how i see myself, what is important in life, etc. That's surely also due to my writing and the dealing with literature and art but also to other factors: the way i've grown up, my family and friends, the people i admire...

In general you can say that i like diversity and that i am always open for the new. I know the benefits and controversial aspects of institutionalized religion (as a polish i've naturally grown up under the dogma of catholic church), and i know the struggles of defining who you are in all sorts of personal, social, sexual identity, etc.
But as i don't think i really done with that work of figuring out "who i am and what i do on this earth" i don't feel to make an absolute statement.
I just want to try as much as possible and have a never ending carousel of new experiences. And if something happens to really catch my attention i'm free to intensify my efforts, am i not?^^

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to participate more as a host myself but as i don't live alone that's not entirely up to me, i'm afraid. But nevertheless i will try to host as much as possible because i love the idea of couchsurfing bringing people together!
As a new surfer i will try to experience as much as possible in different countries and with different people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Up to now (2014) i've had no real couchsurfing experiences except for the usual planned or spontaneous sleep-overs at my friends' places. But now that i'm finally signed up here i want to get to know as many people and places as possible!

兴趣

Puh, that's a tough one because i have lot's of interests and i love to have new experiences. But let's have a try:
First of all there is literature and the dealing with it in all kind of ways. I love all arts, but always have had the most immediate access to literature, first by reading excessively, later by writing myself and thinking about what literature can do and so on. Now that it actually has become my subject at university i appreciate it even more without losing a certain naive approach, allowing me to read serious and trivial stuff both alike, as long as i see something in it and like it.
In general i use the term "art" in a broad sense, including such things as comics and videogames, which maybe makes me something of a nerd i guess. I can live with that ;P

So, yeah, there are games and stuff, above all RPGs (especially the classic Japanese) and there are graphic novels and comics of all sorts and i love to talk about them, deal with them (also in a scientific way: games studies for example. Also, my faculty has a renowned department for comic research) and introduce new persons to the subject.

Now to something maybe more people can relate to: music.
Unlike most, i've only recently started to listen to music more than the everyday-routine. I can't even say why that is, becaus music has always played an important role in my life. I've played the piano for over ten years and still wish to learn the harp.
So i have yet to discover my own "style" and what i really like. I'm always grateful for new music that you can introduce me to^^

Movies are a field almost as wide as literature for me and something i also love very dearly! I like all sorts of movies, from arthouse-style to trash. Yup, i really love trash xD

Then there is the matter of languages. Maybe you have seen in my language-section that there are quite a few, but of course i don't speak them all fluently. That's one of my goals in life though. The eight languages listed are all languages in which i want to be able to communicate at ease when i'm traveling to the corresponding countries someday.
I love the idea of multilinguality and it makes it easier to get in touch with people from all over the world and establish new friendships.
For i'm generally interested in the new and that includes other countries and cultures. That's why i'm studying Chinese besides my literary aspirations.

I'm not sure if i can teach anyone anything but at least i can offer in-depht-conversation about lots of topics, like art, literature, music, games, philosophy, religion...there can be serious topics or nerdy ones or trendy ones. Let's just talk and see where it will lead us^^
What i'm actually looking forward to is to practice my language skills and that of course i something i can offer i return!
