About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Saving money to go travelling abroad again.

ABOUT ME

Graduated high school hoping to travel and discover the world, eager to broaden my cultural horizon. I've homestayed in Osaka for a summer and studied abroad in China for a summer. I frequently read books about China and studied the language (Mandarin) in my uni classes; these sparked my aspiration to work in Taiwan. Lived in Seoul and Taiwan a year and a half each place, now living in Australia.

PHILOSOPHY

Good experiences are there to be cherished as good memories, and bad ones exist as an opportunity to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been very fortunate to be hosted twice by CS hosts and sleep on something other than The ground. Hoping to one day host for others. Currently looking for a new apartment somewhere in Sydney!

Interests

hiking & nature, cooking, fiction novels, ultimate frisbee pickup, watching English football (Liverpool FC).

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Japanese TV show is 世界ウルルン滞在記˜ (Sekai Ururun Taizaiki). When I want to brush up on Chinese, I watch cooking shows and cartoons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Experienced a total solar eclipse in Shanghai after a morning class on July 22, 2009. Shrouded in darkness on campus for roughly 6 minutes during the day. It was surreal.

Also, that one time I surfed waves in Maui, and conditions were perfect (I can't forget my amazing surf instructor Bulldog, who was there to help me each step of the way).

Teach, Learn, Share

Culture shock is inevitable, and it happens. Whether it is during the thick or thin of traveling in a new frontier, taking the extra effort to be patient and understanding of the other side can take you a long way. More room for tolerance, and less room for ignorance.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Being a conversational partner.
Cooking American, Japanese, and some Korean and Thai food.
Sharing the passion of ultimate Frisbee.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, China, France, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, United States
