ABOUT ME

Thank you for all the invites. However, I have decided to cut my travels short, and head back to Houston.

PHILOSOPHY

Humanity has the potential to erase poverty, war, and many(if not all) the things that plague our world today. But this will only happen when we realize we are not islands; but, instead, connected in a fundamental way. As a species, we have developed methods of destroying ourselves. The vast majority of humanities economic effort is in development of killing machines.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During my travels as a hitchhiker I am often given food and money, among other useful(and sometimes useless)things. Because I spend so much of my time outside, on the streets, along the roads, under bridges, et cetera, I am given an unique opportunity to share my gifts with those less fortunate.

I always try to never eat alone. If I have $10 I will always invite a homeless person to share a meal with me. If I have an extra can of food when I get hungry, I always sit next to another homeless person and offer my extra food.

Since I have been hitchhiking, without money, I have not gone hungry. Food seems to come when it is needed, and sometimes when it is not. Since I am traveling great distances it is common that gifts of food are too much for me to carry, so I will go out of my way to make sure that food goes to a person in need. This is easiest in the cities.

I'm interested in people. The more eccentric, the better.

While hitchhiking, you get to meet some of the most odd people you can imagine. This makes for some incredible stories. Here's one:
While hiking through NC, I was picked up by a man & his son. While riding, we talked mostly about God. He, & his son, are extreme zealots. When he dropped me off he wanted to 'pray with me'. I'm okay with this, so he started praying. Suddenly he put one hand on my chest, and another on my forehead, and began speaking in tongues. After the prayer was over(4-5mins. later, literally) he started crying and fell to his knees. All this unfolded in the front parking lot of a Hess Truck Stop.

Minus being propositioned for gay sex on occasion, this is, so far, my oddest experience.

I'm doing the most amazing thing I have ever done. Hitchhiking cross-country. I have only just begun, but it has already been amazing.

Teach: We are all the same. Whether it be from one side of the world to another; from humans to ants; from a grain of sand to the entire universe; we are all the same. Life is universal, and the universe is life. Your existence is merely a function similar to an organ or cell in a greater organism.

Learn: I love to learn about people. Everyone has a story, and every story has a lesson.
I am also interested in learning about the prospects for a money-less society, the potential for endless energy, and whatever lessons life provides.
