Hi! I’ve been living in Puerto Rico for almost a year now. I work in El Yunque on a research project studying trees. I was originally hired to census trees in early September 2017, but then Hurricane Maria came along and changed my plans. I started working on a different research project studying soils, roots, frogs, and lizards in El Yunque. When that project was over, I signed up to study the effects of Hurricane Maria on the trees for six more months. I wanted to stay in Puerto Rico to see what the island is like under more normal circumstances (with restaurants and bars open, traffic lights working, no dry law, etc.). I’m finished working in El Yunque on the 30th and I’m excited to explore the island!
