About Me

CURRENT MISSION

TO MEET PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD

ABOUT ME

Hi! This is Kimi, a TRAVELER from Hokkaido, Japan.
I’m a member of the ONLY INDIGENOUS group in my hometown - the AINU tribe. We’re LIKE the ABORIGINES in Australia.

I have a loving family - my caring parents, a lovely sister and my very kind grandmother. My GRANDFATHER was an AUTHOR who wrote about Ainu culture and my FATHER is a SPEAKER for indigenous cultures. I’m so excited to share what I’ve learned from them to other people abroad.

I can say that I’m EASY-GOING, RESPECTFUL TO DIFFERENCES and so much INTERESTED IN LEARNING NEW THINGS.
What’s more - traveling, GOING FROM PLACE TO PLACE where I’ve never been and MEETING MARVELOUS PEOPLE are things that I’m passionate about.

PHILOSOPHY

TRAVEL and LEARN from people and EXPERIENCES, then SPREAD it to the WORLD.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my last travel in Okinawa, I met a man who traveled around the world with the help of Couchsurfing, I was so amazed I thought I could share my experiences and make friends around the world. In the same way as he did.

There is an awesome experience that I vividly remember - foreigners stayed at our home back in Japan when I was very young. Hosting them is something I would never forget and the warm feeling of having INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER NATIONALITIES, can be MADE INTO REALITY again through COUCHSERFING.

Interests

I enjoy having a CHAT about my CULTURE and so is LEARNING DIFFERENT CULTURES and LIFESTYLES.
I’m always FASCINATED at doing SOMETHING NEW, DISCOVERING PLACES and making new friends.
I think these activities are lots of fun.
Lastly, I also like ARTS, MUSIC, MANGA, BOOKS, MOVIES and SPORTS.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to movies, I love SCIENCE FICTION and DRAMA.
"Memento" is one of them ‘cos it has many flashbacks that makes you feel you’ve just read a mystery novel at the end.

Music is also something that I really like, and BOSSA NOVA and R&B are on top of my list.
To mention, "The Girl from Ipanema" is a song that I keep playing on my Apple as it makes me feel relaxed.

Reading NON-FICTION books, MYSTERY novels and COMIC books interests me a lot.

Curry teases my taste buds, BUT I’m NOT PICKY as I’m A FOOD ADVENTURERE

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I belong to a group which tries to speak Ainu, an endangered language to increase the speakers of such. We’ve INVITED MAORI , native New Zealand people, to learn how to TEACH a native LANGUAGE in my hometown Nibutani. we were able to have a special time with them, and it was a privilege.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach AINU CULTURE, LANGUAGE, also MUSIC/ MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS. I want to learn your traditions and language. I’m looking forward to SHEARING our EXPERIENCES. Before I forget, I hope to have time MAKING TRADITIONAL AINU BRACELETS and NECKLACES with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can say I offer you help with something I can do. For example, making food, carrying heavy things, etc. If you NEED HELP, I’LL DO MY BEST. And DON’T WORRY ABOUT GOING OUT YOUR WAY to make me feel comfortable or entertain me ‘cos I’m quite an easy going guy.

Countries I’ve Visited
