About Me

Hi, I’m Kippy from China. I left the US and returned to Asia last March. Since August, my friend and I have been backpacking through Asia and the Caucasus. This is our first time using Couchsurfing, so all of our references come from this journey. This trip was inspired by my curiosity about how a passport shapes a life and how language draws boundaries. For that reason, I only visit countries where I can enter visa-free. I love meeting people who can share stories, perspectives and local insights and I’m excited to connect with fellow travelers and hosts along the way!

****UPDATE March 2026*****

After a period of intense traveling, we’re feeling a bit worn out. So we’ve been nesting at a few hosts’ places in Sarajevo for a while. We’ve also been thinking about our upcoming plans:

March 10th, Serbia for a month.
April- June, Albania.
June-July, Turkey.
July- September, Georgia.
Originally our route included Africa and the Middle East but the current situation there feels a bit dangerous. So we’ve decided to spend the summer back in the Caucasus!

Right now, we’re looking for hosts in Serbia and Albania.

****UPDATE February 2026*****

So far, we’ve traveled through 7 countries and 30+ cities together. Along the way, we completely fell in love with the Caucasus and ended up staying there for a couple of months.

Over the past month, we hitchhiked from Tbilisi all the way along the Black Sea coast, passing through nearly 10 cities before arriving in Istanbul. On 15th, we’re continuing our journey to the Balkans.

Throughout this journey, couchsurfing has helped us a lot and we’ve met so many kind and inspiring hosts. We travel with our own sleeping bags and mats and don’t stick to fixed plans. We’re very flexible about where we go and are happy to visit any city where someone is willing to host us.

For us, connecting with people is the most important part of travel. Meeting locals is the fastest way to truly understand a country and its culture. We usually know very little about a place before arriving, but we’re deeply curious about how people live their everyday lives.

****UPDATE July 2025*****

Our route:
China → Kazakhstan → Uzbekistan → Azerbaijan → Georgia → Armenia → Turkey → Bosnia and Herzegovina → Serbia → Albania → Morocco → Egypt → Jordan → United Arab Emirates → Oman → Sri Lanka

If we fall in love with somewhere, we might stay longer or come back someday. We are very spontaneous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

not here for free beds lol
also I don’t wanna just travel like a tourist. I love meeting new people! because strangers are kinda magic?? like you never know who you’ll meet, what random convo you’ll have at 2am, or how someone’s home can suddenly feel safe in a new city

Interests

My greatest passions in life are traveling, writing and exploring art in all its forms. I’m all about exploring new places, experiencing different cultures and maybe just getting lost in the beauty the world has to offer. I care a lot about animals, people and the planet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’ve been passionate about literature and movies since I was young. I studied film systematically in high school and I got my art degree six years ago. I’m especially fascinated by Iranian movies—the way they capture deep human emotions, I’m particularly interested in movies that focus on children and social issues, showing human experiences and society from thoughtful, meaningful perspectives.

I like American queer pop because I find resonance in the lyrics; I like classic Chinese pop because the melodies are familiar and perfect for karaoke; I enjoy techno parties because I love the party vibe; a few years ago, I was also obsessed with indie rock, drawn to its attitude toward life… So, the music I love is quite diverse...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve lived — not just traveled — in four different countries and cultures outside my native China.

I’ve hitchhiked from China to the Balkans.

I’ve backpacked 38 states in the United States.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love sharing and exchanging skills. We can show you some fun little art projects, like turning old clothes into a new outfit or even a backpack (if you’ve seen my album, you might be wondering why we have so many different outfits and how we manage them). We’d love to learn a few words of your language, how your traditional dishes are made and the everyday customs that shape your life. We’re also happy to teach a few basics of Mandarin or share some stories about Chinese mysticism if you’re curious.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We’ve brought some Chinese hot pot sauce we can try together (it’s very spicy!!!) or if you tell us what flavors you like, we can cook a Chinese meal, Hahaa it will be a very Chinese time of your life!!!! (Jkjk) We also love creating a traditional Chinese painting/ calligraphy for you as a gift.
